Robert Owen was one of the most influential thinkers and social reformers of his time. The Robert Owen Museum in Newtown, Montgomeryshire houses a collection of objects, pictures and written material relating to the life of Robert Owen. The Museum tells Owen’s story and is in the centre of Newtown just a few feet from where Owen was born.

The museum depicts the history of the Borough of Llanidloes during the last 300 years including a recreated Victorian kitchen and parlour. The museum also has an exhibition on the use of forests and the study of nature.

Opening Hours: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 11am-1pm & 2-5pm

Saturday: 11am-2pm

The museum illustrates the archaeology and social history of Montgomeryshire from the earliest prehistoric settlers to the 20th century population and is housed in a renovated and restored warehouse by the Montgomery Canal.

The museum is open all year.
